My name is David Mitchell, and I am the father of an adopted son Tien Mitchell who came from Vietnam to us in South Australia in April 1975 as part of the airlift.

My wife Phyllis and I have just made a trip to Vietnam and went out from Saigon with a driver and Interpreter and found the site of the old Catholic orphanage which was Bethany Orphanage in Bien Hoa. (about a 90 minute drive from the city) It was a fascinataing day in which we not only met three of the old nuns who were caring for the children in 1975, but after another 60 km driving we were able to find the priest who had baptised Tien. They also have baptism records, old photos etc. Sister Theresa who speaks and writes very
good English is very keen to make contact with anyone who came from there. Her address is:

Sister Theresa Thu
200 Thanh Hoa
Ho Nai 3
Trang Bom
Dong Nai
Vietnam

Email (the easiest way to communicate) is hdnutycglm@pmail.vnn.vn

If you have the original Vietnamese name on documents which came to you, it will help them to trace records. If you can visit, it is an unforgettable experience. (The old orphanage building is gone, but in its place is a day centre for 450 children.)

Feel free to contact me for any further information:
