The Australian Intercountry Adoption Network (AICAN)
AICAN is the national network of 20 non-government organisations (NGOs) involved in Intercountry adoption. Many of these NGOs have been operating since the mid 1970s, although AICAN was founded in 1990.

Jigsaw
Jigsaw Queensland Inc. is an association for Adopted Persons, Birth/Relinquishing Parents and Adoptive Parents. Jigsaw is Queensland’s largest non-profit voluntary Post Adoption Resource Centre, operated and staffed by committed unpaid volunteers. We are a support group that offers practical advice and assistance and emotional support to all those involved in the adoption community. Due to limited resources and legal requirements we can only act for financial members over the age of 18 and for those where the adoption took place within the state of Queensland, Australia.

TRANSLATION IDEAS
In the case of inter-country adoptions, translating services may be required. Two government departments provide interpreting and translating services – the Ethnic Affairs Commission (EAC) of New South Wales and the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA). Prices start at around $22.00 per hour, minimum 2 hours.
